SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical has achieved on-spec production at its new 1.5m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Ningbo on 9 June, a company source said on Friday.
“One of the two compressors is running at around 50% of its nameplate capacity and produced on-spec products on Thursday,” the source said.
He added that the other compressor had yet to be started up because of a delay in its arrival and the company plans to bring it on stream at the end of June.
The company said it would not be able to ramp up the operating rate at the first compressor until the second compressor is started. Meanwhile, Yisheng will not deliver any product until the two compressors are running smoothly.
The new facility has a nameplate capacity of 1.5m tonnes/year, but can produce up to 1.8m tonnes/year of PTA, the source added.
Yisheng started up the plant on 7 June.
