SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Xianglu Petrochemical on 13 June shut its 1.65m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Xiamen, Fujian province, for a scheduled 15-day turnaround, a company source said on Tuesday.

“The plant was shut yesterday and will restart 15 days later,” the source said.

Around 50,000-60,000 tonnes of PTA output will be lost during the turnaround, according to the source.

However, the shutdown will not have an impact on the company’s contract supply as Xianglu Petrochemical has built up its inventory and bought some cargoes from the spot market to plug the shortfall, the source added.
