Brazil ethanol prices rise on strong demand - CEPEA

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Brazil's ethanol spot prices moved up in the second week of June on renewed demand, following a price drop in recent weeks, research group CEPEA said on Tuesday.

CEPEA assessed anhydrous ethanol at reais (R) 1.1518/litre ($2.74/gal) in the week ended 10 June, up by 1.14% from R1.1388/litre a week earlier.

Hydrous ethanol was assessed at R1.0844/litre last week, up by 7.2% from R1.0120/litre in the week ended 3 June, the group said.

Brazil uses hydrous ethanol as a stand-alone fuel in flexible-fuel vehicles (FFVs), while anhydrous ethanol is blended in gasoline at a mandated 18–25%.

CEPEA prices are ex-tank and do not include taxes.
