HOUSTON (ICIS)--LSB Industries has halted production of urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) at its site in Pryor, Oklahoma after experiencing technical problems, the US-based producer said on Thursday.

LSB Industries said that Pryor’s nitric acid facility now required maintenance. The unit is expected to resume production “on or about 21 June”, LSB said.

The company estimates that the outage will cost about 20,000 tonnes in lost UAN production in the second quarter of 2011.

The site’s anhydrous ammonia plant was shut down on 30 May for compressor repairs and production resumed on 12 June, LSB said.

The company also said that the Pryor site is due for a planned turnaround in the third quarter of the year.
