HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) producer LyondellBasell restarted its 390,000/tonne butadiene (BD) plant Channelview, Texas, this week, following a scheduled turnaround, a company source said on Friday.
The plant was down about six weeks, and supply tightened considerably, resulting in brief mid-May shutdowns by two downstream styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) producers after they ran out of feedstock.
However, with the Lyondell plant back in operation, a significant improvement in BD supply was expected.
A spokesman for the company could not be immediately reached for comment.
