TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s Foshan Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes plans to run its new 11,000 tonne/year polyurethane (PU) foam facility at Foshan in Guangdong province, China, at a maximum operating rate of 70%, a source from parent company Mitsui Chemicals said on Monday.
Foshan Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes is planning to sell a total of 7,500 tonnes/year of the facility’s PU output in the fiscal year ending March 2012, the source added.
The company began commercial operations at the $7.5m (€5.3m) PU facility on 5 May.
Foshan Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes aims to ramp up the operating rate at the facility to 100% by 2015, the source said.
The new facility is Mitsui Chemicals’ sixth “system house”, a strategic base for the manufacturing and distribution of PU foam, the company said in a statement on Monday.
