Rhodia to increase global hydroquinone capacity for 2012 by 20%

LONDON (ICIS)--Rhodia is to increase its global capacity of hydroquinone by 20%, especially at its site in Zhenjiang, China, between now and 2012 due to an increase in demand, the French chemical company announced on Tuesday.

“Demand for hydroquinone is driven by high, sustained growth of certain markets such as superabsorbent polymers, paint, construction, automotive or electronics,” said the company.

Rhodia is a major producer of polyamide (or nylon) for the global automotive market, along with surfactants, personal care chemicals and other specialty chemicals.
