LONDON (ICIS)--European Bioplastics has elected a new board, with Andy Sweetman of global specialty chemicals company Innovia Films to serve a second two-year term as chairman, the industry association said on Tuesday.
Jens Hamprecht, of German giant BASF, and Mark Vergauwen, of US-based NatureWorks, will serve as vice-chairmen, European Bioplastics added.
“The awareness of bioplastics has risen immensely within the last year as bioplastics reach more and more consumer products,” Sweetman said.
“The board will therefore continue to dedicate its expertise to encourage political support and to strengthen communication about bioplastics,” he added.
Further members of the board are Rainer Barthel (Danone), Francesco Degli Innocenti (Novamont), Joeran Reske (Interseroh), and Harald Käb (narocon), who was designated treasurer.
European Bioplastics is a Berlin-headquartered association that represents the interests of Europe’s thriving bioplastics industry.
