US Praxair to supply Motiva’s Louisiana refinery with hydrogen

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Praxair has signed a long-term deal to supply Motiva’s refinery in Norco, Louisiana, with hydrogen, the US-based industrial gases major said on Tuesday.

Praxair did not disclose details about volumes, contract duration or financial terms.

Praxair announced recently it will extend its existing Louisiana hydrogen pipeline complex by connecting it to a 135m standard cubic feet/day hydrogen plant it is building at Valero’s St Charles refinery.

The pipeline extension is scheduled to be in operation during the second quarter of 2012 and the hydrogen plant in the fourth quarter of 2012, the company said.

Motiva's Norco refinery has a capacity of 240,000 bbl/day, and Valero's St Charles refinery has a capacity of 250,000 bbl/day, according to information on the companies' respective websites.
