SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Tianjin Dagu Chemical will be taking its 150,000 tonne/year propylene oxide (PO) plant off line on 25 June for a scheduled 10-day turnaround, said a company source on Friday.

The company had initially wanted to shut the PO facility for a week, but decided to prolong the shutdown period in view of declining domestic product values in China, market sources said.

Over the past week, domestic PO prices in China have fallen by yuan (CNY) 1,000/tonne to CNY14,000-14,500/tonne ($2,164-2,241/tonne) DEL (delivered) east China because of ample supply and weakness in the key downstream polyether polyols industry, according to ICIS.

Tianjin Dagu’s PO plant is located at Tianjin city in northern China.
