HOUSTON (ICIS)--A US monopropylene glycol (MPG) producer is looking to roll over the June contract price for July, it said on Monday.

Buyers could not immediately be reached for comment.

Increases proposed for June failed because of buyer resistance, which was fuelled by waning feedstock propylene prices.

The producer said it plans to maintain the US contract price at the current level, and will not pursue a price decrease.

“We intend to hold our July prices to a rollover. We don’t have any intention of giving product away,” the producer said.

US June contract prices for industrial-grade MPG is $1.20–1.24/lb ($2,646–2,734/tonne, €1,878–1,941/tonne), as assessed by ICIS.

Major US MPG producers include Arch Chemicals, Dow Chemical, Huntsman and LyondellBasell.
