MOVES: US Rentech names new board chairman

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Rentech has named Halbert Washburn as non-executive chairman of the board of directors, the California-based synthesis gas and fertilizer maker said on Wednesday.

Washburn replaces retiring chairman of the board and company founder Dennis Yakobson, who will remain a director at Rentech and serve as chairman emeritus.

Washburn has been a director at Rentech since 2005 and has 25 years of experience in the energy industry.

Los Angeles–based Rentech's biomass gasification processes can convert multiple cellulosic biomass feedstocks into synthesis gas (syngas) for the production of renewable fuels and power.

Rentech Energy Midwest, the company's wholly owned subsidiary, manufactures and sells nitrogen fertilizer products including ammonia, urea ammonia nitrate, urea granule and urea solution in the central US.
