LONDON (ICIS)--CEO of Canada-based fertiliser company Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (PotashCorp), William Doyle, became the new president of the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) on Thursday.

Doyle was elected to succeed Ajay Shriram, chairman of Indian chlor-alkali producer DCM Shriram Consolidated Limited, as president during the IFA’s annual conference that took place in Montreal, Canada, from 23 to 25 May.

Shriram will remain a member of the IFA’s executive management group as immediate past president.

Doyle has been a member of the IFA’s executive management group since 2006 and has assumed various responsibilities including serving as its first vice president for sustainable development before becoming president.

“One of the main areas of focus during my presidency at IFA will be on raising the importance of safety among the members because our first responsibility is to ensure the safety of the great people who come to work every day for our industry,” Doyle said upon being elected.
