SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Qatar Petrochemical Co (QAPCO) will start-up its new 300,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant, LDPE-3, at Mesaieed in Qatar this December, a company source said on Friday.
The date was brought forward from the first quarter of 2012, but the company did not specify any reasons for doing so.
The company’s two existing 200,000 tonne/year LDPE units at the same site are operating at high rates, the source said. One of the units uses the tubular process while the other operates using the autoclave process.
“The new plant will operate with the tubular process,” the source said.
