HONG KONG (ICIS)--China’s Ningbo Mitsubishi Chemical plans to build a new 1m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Ningbo in eastern Zhejiang province, a company official said on Monday.
“We are planning to build a 1m tonne/year PTA unit in Ningbo and we will soon submit some documents to seek the government’s approval,” Miyauchi Takaharu, executive vice-president of the company’s marketing department, said on the sidelines of the Global PX-Polyester Chain Focus 2011 conference.
However, the timeline for the project has not yet been fixed.
Ningbo Mitsubishi Chemical already operates a 600,000 tonne/year PTA facility at the same site.
The Global PX-Polyester Chain Focus 2011 conference in Hong Kong runs from 4–5 July.
