India’s Haldia to shut cracker and PE, PP units in late July

SINGAPORE (ICIS) -- India’s Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) plans to shut its cracker and polymer facilities at Haldia in West Bengal from the third week of July for at least a week for maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.
The nameplate capacity of the naphtha cracker is 670,000 tonnes/year, while the nameplate capacities of the polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) units are 700,000 tonnes/year and 340,000 tonnes/year respectively, the source said.
HPL has not decided on the exact date and duration of the shutdown.
“There will be no export for the polymers in July, but exports will resume in August after the turnaround,” he said.
