SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s producers have raised their offers for polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) by as much as 3.7% this week to match rising prices in China, their key export market, local distributors said on Friday.
Some local producers said they had received many enquiries from China earlier this week, and would allocate more cargoes for export if they could not obtain higher prices in the domestic market, local distributors said.
Offers for the benchmark film grade high density polyethylene (HDPE) were at Thai baht (Bt) 40-42/kg ($1.3-1.4/kg) delivered (DEL), Bt1.00-1.50/kg or 2.4-3.7% higher as compared with last week’s prices, the distributors said.
Film grade PP was offered at Bt47.50/kg DEL, Bt0.50/kg or 1.1% higher than last week, the distributors said.
Thailand exports a range of PE and PP products to China, including film grade HDPE, low density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), as well as yarn and injection grade PP.
