Malaysia’s PETRONAS runs 300,000 tonne/year MTBE plant at 100%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s state-owned oil giant PETRONAS is running its 300,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant at Kuantan in Pahang state at full capacity, following a brief shutdown in mid-June, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The plant was taken off line for four days last month because of a technical issue. Prior to the shutdown, the plant's run rates were being reduced to 65-70% from around 80%.

The plant was shut for a regular turnaround from 18 April to 19 May.
