China's Zhejiang Yisheng fully starts up new Ningbo PTA plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical has fully started up its new purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Ningbo in Zhejiang province that has a total nameplate capacity of 2m tonnes/year, a company source said on Friday.

The second compressor of the PTA plant, with a 1m tonne/year capacity was successfully brought on stream on 7 July, a month after the first compressor with the same capacity came on line, the source said.

The start-up at the second compressor was smooth, he said.

“New [PTA] products are tested qualified and our daily output has reached 4,600 tonnes today [Friday],” he added.

Current daily production translates to an 80% operating rate at the new PTA plant.

Yisheng Petrochemical sent out PTA output from the new plant to its joint owners - Zhejiang Hengyi Group  and Zhejiang RongSheng Group, shortly after starting up the first compressor, the source said.

A number of Zhejiang-based polyester makers have also started receiving material from the company’s new plant since the start of July, the source said.
