US Goodyear closes Tennessee tyre plant ahead of schedule

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based Goodyear has shut down a tyre plant in Union City, Tennessee, the company said on Monday.
In February, Goodyear had announced that it would close the plant by the end of the year. However, product transfers to other plants were completed faster than expected, the company said.
“We are now able to meet the needs of our consumer tyre customers without further production in Union City,” said Richard Kramer, Goodyear’s chairman and CEO.
