SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Idemitsu Petrochemical Corp (FIPC) restarted its 75,000 tonne/year No 3 polycarbonate (PC) line in Mailiao on 12 July, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.
However, its No 1 and No 2 lines, which can each produce 60,000 tonnes/year of PC, remain off line.
FIPC is planning to restart the No 1 and No 2 lines in July, but has not set a definite restart date yet.
All three lines were shut after a fire at a neighbouring complex caused a power outage on 12 May.
FIPC is a joint venture between Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) and Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan.
