HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) producer TPC Group received an air permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that will allow the company to move forward with the restart of an idle dehydrogenation unit in the state, the company said on Wednesday.
Once the project is complete, the unit will be able to produce about 292,500 tonnes/year of isobutylene, which will provide an additional source of feedstock for TPC’s fuel-products and performance-products businesses.
The primary engineering phase for the project has been completed, and TPC has already begun with the next phase of engineering, the company said. TPC expects the idle unit to be fully operational by 2014.
