HOUSTON (ICIS)--Total Petrochemical had to shut down a unit related to its sulphur recovery incinerator on Thursday to repair environmental monitoring thermowells at the French company's Port Arthur, Texas, refinery.
Market traders said the sulphur recovery unit (SRU) was likely the unit shutdown, causing flaring of excess sulphur gas by the incinerator. The shutdown will not affect refinery production.
Total did not provide further details on the incident.
