SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s CPC Corp is planning to restart its 385,000 tonne/year No 4 naphtha cracker at Linyuan early next week after an unplanned shutdown, a company source said on Friday.

The source did not provide further details.

CPC shut the cracker on 4 July because of unspecified problems.

The shutdown had a minimal impact on the ethylene market because most buyers are covered for July, market sources said.

CPC runs a 230,000 tonne/year No 3 cracker at the same site.

The producer has been buying spot cargoes of ethylene on a formula basis since last week, ahead of a turnaround at its 500,000 tonne/year No 5 cracker in Kaohsiung in the middle of August.
