GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--A fire at a crude distillation unit (CDU) of PetroChina’s subsidiary, Dalian Petrochemical, forced its shutdown on Saturday, the company said in a statement on its website.
The fire occurred at 14:25 local time (06:25 GMT) at one of the company’s CDUs due to leakage from the unit’s heat exchanger, but did not cause any environmental damage or result in any casualties, the statement said.
The fire was brought under control after about five and a half hours, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency. It said a 10m tonnes/year CDU had caught fire.
