The issue of sustainability is a critical one for the chemical industry, and one that is commanding an increasingly prominent position in strategy formulation and decision-making by chemical producers.

So where are all the entries for this new and important category in this year's ICIS Innovation Awards?

It appears that despite growing numbers of sustainability strategies and initiatives, driven both by legislation and by demand from downstream customers, especially those in the retail sector, companies are reluctant to seek recognition for their efforts.

The ICIS Innovation Awards sustainability category, sponsored by Dutch health, nutrition and materials specialist DSM, which is itself focusing intently on sustainability, gives companies the opportunity to receive recognition for their successful efforts in this area and gain reward for them in the pages of this magazine.

To ensure healthy competition in this category, ICIS and the judges have agreed to extend the entry deadline to August 5, 2011.

So now is your chance to let everyone know about your sustainability successes. To find out more or to enter, go to www.icis.com/awards. But hurry; the deadline may have been extended, but it is still close.
