China June ethylene output grows 4.7% to 1.2m tonnes

GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China produced 1.2m tonnes of ethylene in June, up 4.7% from the same period of last year, bringing the total output for the first half of the year to 7.8m tonnes, data released by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) showed on Monday.

The ethylene output for the January-to-June period was up 17.2% year on year, according to the data.

Meanwhile, China’s polyethylene production in June declined 3.3% year on year to 773,000 tonnes, but up 7.5% in the first six months of the year, CPCIF said.

Meanwhile, China’s polyvinyl chloride (PVC) output in June increased 6.1% to 1.08m tonnes, while methanol production totalled 1.72m tonnes, up 21.4% from the same period last year, the data showed.

The country produced 1.06m tonnes of polyester during the month, rising 11.5% compared to the same period last year, the CPCIF data showed.
