HOUSTON (ICIS)--A crude unit at Valero’s 214,000 bbl/day Texas City refinery near Houston shut down unexpectedly on Monday, according to market sources.

The unit's capacity is not known. A Valero spokesman was unavailable for comment.

The shutdown had no obvious spot market impact, sources said. The unit’s shutdown came late in the afternoon, after the NYMEX petroleum complex had settled its prices for the day.
