Japan’s Mitsubishi Rayon shuts butane-based MMA line in Otake

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Rayon Co (MRC) shut its 55,000 tonne/year butane-based methyl methacrylate (MMA) line at Otake on Tuesday for a scheduled turnaround.

The MMA line in Hiroshima prefecture will be down until 28 July, the source said.

MRC’s other crude butane-based 55,000 tonne/year MMA line at Otake had its turnaround on 12 May to 7 June, the source said.

The company also operates a 107,000 tonne/year acetone cyanohydrin-based MMA line in Otake that is not due for maintenance this year.

MRC is the largest MMA producer in Asia.
