LONDON (ICIS)--Al-Waha Petrochemical has extended the outage at its 450,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) facility in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia, to the end of July, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The plant was shut down early last week for four to five days, following technical issues.

“We do not yet know the specific restart date,” the sources added.

Al-Waha is a 75:25 joint venture between Sahara Petrochemical Co and LyondellBasell.

Other joint ventures involving LyondellBasell for PP include Saudi Polyolefins Co (SPC) and Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Co (SEPC) which are both working well, the source maintained.

SPC is a joint venture between National Industrialisation Co (TASNEE) and LyondellBasell. SEPC is a joint venture between Sahara Olefins Co (24.4%), TASNEE (50.6%) and LyondellBasell (25%).
