SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) plans to shut its Mailiao-based 250,000 tonne/year n-butanol (NBA) plant in December for a 30-day turnaround, a company source said on Wednesday.
The company will have fewer cargoes to sell as a result of the shutdown as a portion of its output is for captive use, the company source added.
About 60-70% of the plant’s NBA output is used in its downstream butyl acrylate (butyl-A) units in Mailiao and Kaohsiung, while the rest is exported.
