LONDON (ICIS)--Major US phosphates producer Mosaic has agreed third-quarter liquid sulphur contracts with suppliers at a rollover of $220/long ton (€154/long ton), a company source said on Monday.

The contracts have been concluded on cost and freight (CFR) terms, unchanged from the second-quarter level as anticipated by the market.

Another major US sulphur buyer, Potash Corp of Saskatchewan (PCS), indicated late on 22 July that it was still in negotiations with suppliers.

There are expectations for PCS to agree at a similar price level.

Sulphur availability has been improving in the US because of completed turnarounds, increased capacity utilisation due to the summer driving season and higher sulphur content crude being processed.

Additionally, international sulphur price indications have been softening due to delayed and continued quarterly and half-yearly contract negotiations between global sulphur suppliers and buyers in North Africa and China.

Sulphur is a raw material used for the production of phosphate fertilizers.
