HOUSTON (ICIS)--US nylon and acrylonitrile (ACN) producer Ascend Performance Materials reported the shutdown of its ACN plant in Texas, the company confirmed on Monday.

The plant, in Alvin, Texas, experienced a power outage on 24 July, which shut down production. The company said it did not expect the plant to remain down for long.

The outage is not expected to affect Ascend’s production of nylon 6,6, but might reduce available export volumes of ACN, a source said.

Ascend has an ACN capacity of 500,000 tonnes/year at the plant, according to ICIS plants and projects.
