SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) and Formosa Chemicals and Fibers Corp (FCFC) have suspended their offers of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) for August shipment, in the wake of a fire at a propylene pipeline in Mailiao, company sources said on Monday.

FPC and FCFC have suspended their offers because the recent fires in Mailiao have created uncertainty in their supply of ethylene and propylene feedstock, the company sources said.

FPC operates a 350,000 tonne/year high density PE (HDPE) plant, a 264,000 tonne/year linear low density PE (LLDPE) unit, a 240,000 tonne/year low density PE/ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE/EVA) swing plant, and two PP plants with a combined capacity of 350,000 tonne./year at Linyuan in Kaohsiung.

FCFC operates three PP plants at Mailiao each with a 180,000 tonne/year capacity.
