HOUSTON (ICIS)--US Momentive Specialty Chemicals has opened a new resin-coated proppants plant in Arkansas, the company said on Monday.
Located in Batesville, in the north of the state, the plant is the second addition in 2011 to the manufacturing grid of Momentive’s Oilfield Technology Group. The company would not comment on how much capacity the plant will produce.
Earlier this year, Momentive expanded its plant in Cleburne, Texas, and has incremental expansions planned at other facilities.
It operates six manufacturing plants with multiple production lines and 14 transload facilities serving the US and Canada, the company said.
Proppants are used in the oil and gas industry for hydraulic fracturing (fracking), which is used to extract oil and natural gas from shale formations deep underground.
