Taiwan’s Nan Ya may shut one MEG unit from mid-to-late August

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Nan Ya Plastics may shut one of its four monoethylene glycol (MEG) units from mid-to-late August as an upstream cracker will be undergoing maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

The source did not know which MEG unit will be shut, but all of the units are now being run normally.

The company did not rule out the possibility that it may purchase ethylene from the spot market to maintain operations at the four units, said the source, who declined to disclose further details.

Nan Ya, a subsidiary of the Formosa group, has a combined MEG capacity of 1.8m tonnes/year at Mailiao.
