The maintenance is expected to last nearly a month until 29 August, a statement on Sinopec’s website said.
Shanghai SECCO has a 1.2m tonne/year naphtha cracker and various derivative plants at the site. These include production units for polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), aromatics, styrene monomer (SM), polystyrene (PS) and acrylonitrile (ACN).
The company can produce a yearly output of 600,000 tonnes of PE, 250,000 tonnes of PP, 600,000 tonnes of aromatics, 650,000 tonnes of SM, 300,000 tonnes of PS, 260,000 tonnes of ACN and 90,000 tonnes of butadiene, according to the website.
Shanghai SECCO is a joint venture company with Sinopec holding a 30% stake, China’s Shanghai Petrochemical with 20% and largest shareholder UK’s BP having a 50% stake.
