HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical plans to build manufacturing facilities for polyolefin encapsulant films in ?xml:namespace>
The investments will more than triple Dow Chemical’s capacity for speciality films used in photovoltaic modules, the company said, although it did not disclose capacity or financial details.
“Converting solar energy into an efficient source of electricity is an area of expertise Dow will continue to develop,” said Brij Sinha, Dow’s global market manager for photovoltaics.
“Demand for photovoltaic modules has been growing at about 30%/year, and is expected to continue at this rate for the next several years,” Sinha added.
