SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical has shut down its three purified terephthalic acid (PTA) units at Ningbo in Zhejiang province after a typhoon disrupted power supply to the facilities, two company sources said on Monday.
The No 1 and No 2 units, as well as the company's new No 3 unit, were shut on the evening of 6 August as a result of typhoon Muifa, the source said.
“Workers are still repairing the power units, but it is unknown when the three plants will be restarted,” the source added.
Another source from Yisheng’s parent company, Heng Yi Petrochemical, confirmed the shutdown, but declined to give more details.
Yisheng Petrochemical operates a 660,000 tonne/year No 1 PTA plant, a 650,000 tonne/year No 2 PTA plant and a 2m tonne/year No 3 plant.
