China’s Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao to shut BR plant in September

SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Co plans to shut down its 120,000 tonne/year butadiene rubber (BR) plant at Shanghai in September, industry sources said on Monday.

The plant will be shut for regular maintenance but the actual date has not been confirmed by the company, a market source said.

When contacted, Gaoqiao did not disclose any details about the shutdown.

Gaoqiao is a major local BR producer in China and the shutdown will tighten supply and likely cause market prices to rise in September, a trader said.
