Saudi Methanol runs Ar-Razi 5 methanol plant at normal rates

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Saudi Methanol is running its 1.7m tonne/year Ar-Razi 5 methanol plant at Al-Jubail in Saudi Arabia at normal rates since two weeks ago, a source at its parent firm SABIC said on Tuesday.

It was shut because of technical issues in early July.

The source did not reveal the exact operating rates.

Saudi Methanol’s four other plants - Ar-Razi 1 to 4, with a combined capacity of 3.2m tonnes/year - are running at above 70% of their capacity, the source said. The company has no maintenance plans for the four plants, the source said.

Saudi Methanol is a joint venture between SABIC, which owns 50% of the company, and a Japanese consortium led by Mitsubishi Gas Chemical.
