HOUSTON (ICIS)--Citing inclement weather, Brazilian sugarcane group Unica cut its forecast for the country's 2011–2012 centre-south sugarcane crop on Thursday.

The new projection, 510m tonnes, is 4% below Unica’s previous forecast of 533m tonnes, and represents an 8% reduction from the 557m tonnes produced in 2010–2011.

Unica represents most mills in the centre-south, which accounts for about 90% of Brazil's ethanol production.
