SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Kuwait-based EQUATE Petrochemical plans to resume linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) production on 15 August after the repairs at the swing facility are done, a source close to the company said on Friday.
The 850,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE)/LLDPE swing plant at Shuaiba has been producing the HDPE grade since the end of July because of a technical fault, the source said.
“We have sufficient HDPE stocks for now, but there are mounting backlogs to clear for LLDPE. We are hoping that the plant will swing to LLDPE production on schedule,” he said.
As a result, Equate is likely to continue to cut its allocations for September LLDPE parcels to Asia.
