SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fujia Dahua will deliver contracted paraxylene (PX) cargoes for August loading to its various customers while negotiations with the Dalian government officials over the shutdown of its aromatics complex are ongoing, market sources said on Tuesday.
“I have an August parcel that will be loaded out of Dalian on 17 August,” said a customer of the Chinese aromatics producer.
Dalian’s local government has requested for the company’s aromatics facility at Dalian to be shut after residents in the area took to the streets on 14 August to demand a relocation of the complex.
Concerns of pollution and toxic spills were raised after the protective dike of the aromatics complex was breached by rain and high waves in the wake of Typhoon Muifa last week.
A Fujia Dahua official earlier told ICIS that the company is operating the plant “normally” and there is no immediate impact to its August shipments.
Fujia Dahua produces a total of 700,000 tonnes/year of PX, 300,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 100,000 tonnes/year of orthoxylene (OX) at its Dalian-based aromatics plant.
