LONDON (ICIS)--BASF has completed the acquisition of Germany-based water treatment company inge watertechnologies, the petrochemicals major said on Wednesday.

Germany-headquartered BASF and inge watertechnologies did not disclose financial details of the deal.

The transaction will allow BASF to expand its market position in the rapidly growing water treatment market and broaden the technology base for its water platform, the group said.

“This acquisition will enable us to further improve our position in the water treatment industry by offering our customers package systems including chemicals and membrane equipment,” said Matthias Halusa, vice-president of BASF’s water solutions business.

BASF said the competition authorities had approved the transaction unconditionally.
