SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals is expected to run its 40,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant at Sakai in Osaka at reduced rates of 95-98% as a result of energy restrictions implemented in the country, a company source said on Friday.
The plant is expected to resume run rates of 100% in early September, said the source.
The plant previously underwent a month-long turnaround from the middle of June, added the source.
The company faced production issues during the restart in the middle of July, which resulted in a production loss of about 1,000 tonnes, he said.
