US Amyris seals supply deal with Japan’s Nikko Chemicals

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Amyris has signed a multi-year agreement to supply several hundred tonnes of its renewable squalane to Nikko Chemicals for distribution in the Japanese market, the US-based firm said on Friday.

Squalane is a moisturising ingredient used in cosmetics. Amyris’ renewable squalene is derived from sugarcane-based farnesene.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

California-based Amyris is a renewables company focused on providing alternatives to petroleum-based products.

Nikko Chemicals is a Japanese specialty chemicals firm.
