SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Jiujiang is planning to shut its 100,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Jiangxi province from 28 August to 10 October, for maintenance, a source close to the company said on Monday.

The turnaround was originally scheduled to last for around 30 days, but it has been extended to 45 days, the source added.

However, the source did not provide further details on why the shutdown period was extended.

Sinopec Jiujiang produces yarn-grade PP and biaxially oriented PP (BOPP) at its Jiangxi plant.

Local distributers told ICIS that the turnaround will not affect the local PP market, as the plant’s capacity is small.
