SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Lucite International (China) Chemical Industry has restarted its 93,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant at Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park in Caojing earlier than expected on 23 August, a company source said on Tuesday.
Lucite China, which is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Rayon, is ramping up the plant’s operating rates and is building up its inventories, the source said, adding that the company will focus on domestic MMA sales.
The turnaround lasted 21 days instead of the scheduled 28 days because the company managed to complete the work quickly, said the source.
The company shut the plant on 2 August and had expected to restart it at the end of the month, the source added.
