China’s LLDPE futures rise by 1.8% on speculative trading

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) futures have risen by 1.8% on 23 August as higher crude futures drove speculative trading, local futures brokers said on Tuesday.

The January LLDPE contract price was the most highly traded, closing at yuan (CNY) 10,865/tonne ($1,695/tonne), which is CNY190/tonne or 1.8% higher from Monday’s settlement price at CNY10,675/tonne, according to data from the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE).

Around 1.2m contracts for January were transacted on Tuesday, which amounted to about 3m tonnes of LLDPE, the DCE data showed.
